My Tasks - Timesheet

Trivikram

We are using My Tasks view for timesheet filling in PS 07. Pls suggest me the
ways how to restrict resources logging in manhours against a particular task.

For example... we as a team are working on a proposal. After 1 wk let us say
I have to restrict one out of the two Process Engineers logging manhours in
this particular proposal. Pls suggest me a way to do this.

Thanks,
3vikram.

There is no fail-safe way to do this because resources can self-assign
tasks, but the proper way to handle this is to close out the assignment to
the resource by setting remaining work to zero, publish the task to update
the completion to the server, then unpublish the task so that it no longer
appears on the user's My Tasks page.

Can you explain how to "unpublish" a task?

Hi Gary, thanks for the response.

I too was thinking of the same idea but we understand from the Microsoft
consultant we hired during the enivisioning & implementation phase, that a
task remains in one's PWA even after it is 100% complete (say for atleast 10
days after actual completion date).

Also could you please explain what is this "unpublishing a task".

Thanks,
3vikram.

There is basically two ways to remove a task from a team member's task page:

1.In PWA the Project Managaer can go to "server Settings" and then go to
"Close Tasks to Update". Here the Project Manager can select the project and
the sepcific tasks - this will remove the task from the resource's task
page.
2.I use this option - In MSP, add the "Publish" field - this is set to Yes
by default - setting it to "No" and republishing will remove it from the
resource's task page. I use this to remove completed tasks for users from
their task page as well as tasks still being planned/finalised and also
tasks that are way ahead in future. They idea is to keep team members' task
pages as 'clean' as possible in order to get them to submit time without
going through a cumbersome process.....

Hope it helps....
