My Timesheets - Makinf a field mandatory

S

Shayna Knowles

Hi there:

We currently use My Timesheets to record time, and do not use My Tasks.

I was wondering if there is any possible way the Comments field within this can become a mandatory field? Meaning, a timesheet may not be submitted for sign off unless the comments field is completed?

If not, any other suggestions?

Many thanks!!

Hi Shayna,

that would be good :) but unfortunatly there is not out of the box
functionality that offers this feature. Having said this, i am sure it can be
custom developed.
Hope this helps

HI,
I'm just wondering how you use timesheets and not tasks. We are using
both and it woudl be much simplier if we didn't have to use tasks,
only timesheets.
How do you do that?

Thanks!

Some companies do not drive task updates using time collected in the
timesheets. Many of these will have PMs update the plans using the client,
and only collect hours from resources for analysis purposes. You can also
install the Microsoft codeplex solution which will run the system in
tied-mode, which automatically imports the hours to the my tasks page and
submits them. You can find this solution at http://www.codeplex.com

OK thanks for the explanation. We want to drive task updates therefore
we need to use MyTasks.
I have found the codeplex solution and I'm waiting for my trusty IT
dept to deploy to our test server for testing.
If it works as it says it will greatly simplify things for our end
users filling out timesheets,
