My trace dependents is not working

when I go to trace dependents it says there are none, when in fact there are cells that are referring to the formula and it's not within a fuction like OFFSET. I get the "no dependents" comment back but there are dependents.Anyone have a solution to this problem? I'm using Office 2010.
