I am trying to fold regular paper in two and use the plastic brochure holders
from office depot. The problem I am having is that once I fold the flyer in
half it does not fit into the slot without bowing the middle. Is there a
template just for one sided brochure publication. I am very new to publisher
so please break it down for me in lamen terms.....TY PJ

Those holders usually are made to hold three panel brochures. What you need to do is
measure the opening and setup up your Publication for that size. You will have to
trim if you insist on using a custom size. Lots of good templates are around for
three panel brochures.
Post your measurements, someone will guide you.
A one sided brochure? What look do you have in mind?

A brochure folded only once from a standard sized letter paper of 8

the time for our business and the only source I've ever found for
folders of this size has been at Staples. They have a clear plastic
holder, that is not usually shelved in the same place as the brochure
holders, so you migfht have to look around for it.

That really is interesting Math. What happened to the 8 1/2 inch side.

Do not know where you live. Most of the world uses Metric measure and A4
paper.
If you use A4 paper the brochure will be too wide for a holder built for
US letter folded once.
A4 produces a folder148.5mm wide wheras US letter produces a folder only
139.7mm wide
