My word files and excel files will not open-help!

When trying to open word or excel files I get a message that the file is not
available.

What do I do?

How are you trying to open the files? Are you clicking on the file name in
recent documents or a desktop shortcut or opening the programs first, then
browsing to the files or clicking on the Most Recently Used files?

O

OSK

I have tried all of those methods

Have you tried finding the files in Windows Explorer?

I went to search in the Start menu and the file opened. I then went to My
documents and it opened there. I also opened the program and it opened there
too. I don't know what was going on, but it seems to be working now. Thank
you for your support. I will keep this thread open until end of day today
and then delete, since the problem seemed to fix itself.

I'm glad you are back to usual. And you can't delete this thread - it's here
until Microsoft goes broke.

Actually it is "archived" in google groups. Depending on traffic, it
could be gone from the Microsoft servers in 2-3 months.
