my workbooks will not pastelink can anybody help?

I have tried to link workbooks with both pastelink and a straight formula and
neither will work. Is there a setting which needs to be taken off?

There may be several posibilities causing the problem, first I advice you to
check if there are any potections applied to both of the workbooks, remove
them all if any, second disable the "Share Workbook" function. In 2007
version there is security warning below the ribbon bar if a linkage detected,
click Options and then choose Enable this Content.
