Mysterious Highlighting Problem

Two computers, both running XP Pro, both running Office 2003. All of a
sudden, neither computer can highlight any text in an Outlook message to
cut and paste. Both computers are set for automatic updates from Windows
Update. Has something happened that has hosed this feature?
