name conflict error

I get a "name conflict" error when opening many of my old excel files with
excel 2007... but not all. What is resolution? I need to get the
spreadsheets open.

You possibly have used range names which resemble column "names"?

Try if it helps to (temporarily) switch Excel to R1C1 mode before opening such
a file.
