Naming convention for Word files ...

Users occasionally get WINWORD CAUSED EXCEPTION ERROR ...
this seems to be fixed by renaming the file to something
with only letters.
Have been told that multiple "."'s in a filename
(e.g. "TEST 04.21.02.DOC" ) is the issue. I am trying to
find a document that spells out the naming convention for
Word files.

The Naming convention is simple: name.doc where the name is limited so that
the total length including any spaces and the extension does not exceed 255
characters.

The stop character has been a perfectly legal character to use in a file
name since Windows 2000. You have been told incorrect information.
