Narrower rows for subtasks when printed

Ed K

I know how to decrease the height of rows, but when my MS Project Gantt chart
prints, the row height of subtasks are at least twice the size I set on the
Gantt chart view. As a result, my print is nearly twice the number of pages
I need.

How do I make the row height of subtasks narrower when it prints (and in
Print Preiview?

Thanks.

Hi Ed,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

One thing that dictates the height of a row in the Gantt Chart view is the positioning of text on the Gantt bars. If there is text above or below any one bar, Project will widen all the rows to accommodate it. There is no quick way of checking this, you'll have to run through the Gantt Chart, check each one to see if there is text above or below. If there is, Format/Bar.../Text tab and ensure text is confined to left, right or inside. While you're at it, check the ID numbering on the left to see that there are no ID numbers for empty lines - if there are, then delete those rows.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
