Nav Bars

gallagherm

Dear Group,

I have successfully built my site. What I would like to do is have my nav
bar remain static when I scroll the page down, (Similar to making the
background picture a watermark). My nav bars are in flash and are not
supplied by FrontPage.

How can I get my nav bars to remain static on the page when scrolling?

To see the type of nav bars please visit www.gsi-international.com.

Kindest regards

Here is a crossbrowser solution that doesn't require JavaScript.
A very neat solution to get around IE's lack of support for position:
fixed in CSS.

you can use either a frame (not highly recommended) or a static layer.

there are plenty of scripts to do a static layer here:

http://dynamicdrive.com
also I'd found a nice cross-browser script here:
http://echoecho.com

Hey Chris!

Do I have a big grin?!!!!

Thanks very much Chris. I used Echoecho, (duly saved in my favourites).
BTW, I am a lamer when it comes to this thing and have had to learn all this
by myself. Wished I'd looked in here before. My site is using html, flash and
php. See, even 50 years olds can get with it. I may be middle/old aged but I
aint no dinosaur!

This web site stuff beats being blown up and shot at in Baghdad! I should
get a new job!

Again, my gratitude for your help Chris!!!

Kindest regards,

Martin

glad it worked for you!
I found that script handy when I was doing a shopping cart with very long
product descriptions, I needed the "add to cart" box stay static so it'd be
there when they got to the bottom. ;-)

glad it helped.
