Navagation bar help

FP2003 Navigation view shows home page and 5 children pages.
When I go to insert the navigation bar, I have to do this for each
individual page. Is there a better way??

Second, some of the children pages show a link to the page that is
displayed (which I don't want) and some children show only the links to
other pages (which I do want).

Any advice and suggestions of a good learning tool to understand
navigational links?
thanks

There are at least two.
o Add shared borders (either to the entire site or
just the pages you want) and then add the Nav bar
to the shared border.
o Add the Nav bar to a Dynamic Web Template, and then
attach the template to each page you want.
Second, some of the children pages show a link to the
page that is displayed (which I don't want) and some
children show only the links to other pages (which I do
want).

This depends on the Link bar settings. Right-click the
Link bar, choose Link Bar Properties, and set the controls
on the General tab to your liking.

I unabashedly recommend Chapter 13, Creating Web Sites
With Navigation View, from Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003
Inside Out.
