Navigation Button not showing post publish

Okay, this is the weirdest kink I've yet to come across....any help would be greatly appreciated
Working with FP2000, I've added a linked page to a 2nd level page. Renamed it, previewed it, everything looks fine. All navigation buttons work fine. When I publish I always go through this painful process of copying over the derived files and vt_cnf files for newly added pages, otherwise the nav buttons only show with red cross-outs. I always have three files under both the derived and vt_cnf folders for all the button graphics which I copy over. I am using a theme across all pages, and a shared border. Out of nowhere I am now only getting one file (in both the derived and vt_cnf folders), and now the 2nd level page (when published) doesn't even show the newly created linked page. This doesn't appear to be the case when I create a new linked page from the home page. Any ideas

You should never "copy" the _derived files vt_cnf files to a server running the FP SE
- use File Publish All and enter your URL
You do need to upload the _derived folders to a server if you are using a 3rd party FTP
- the _vt* folders are not needed

For your problem, check the case of all file names and make sure you are not using illegal characters (spaces/punctuation) in file
names

I have the same issue just recently... check out my post "Q: Where'd
my NAV buttons go?"
