Need advice on doing a mailing with Outlook 2003

M. B.

I need to email about 6,000 contacts of mine in a few weeks, and have the
following questions:

1) My email provider allows only 100 emails to be sent per hour. As I
don't want to be flagged as a spammer, is there a Outlook script or a
seperate program that would allow me to do a schedule that would take the
total list and send 99 emails from it every hour until it's done.

2) These will not be a "generic mass-mailing", but one that I would actually
have a person name go with each seperate email. My contact information
(person name & email address) is stored in an Excel file. Is there a
program that will do this for you?

Any other input is much appreciated! I am using Outlook 2003.

#2 could be handled by the Mail Merge feature in Office 2003 (assuming you
have Word 2003 installed -- it won't work if the Word and Outlook versions
don't match). However, since you have requirement #1 to think about as
well, you may want to check out a third party mass mailing program that has
that capability. See http://www.slipstick.com/addins/mail.htm#massmail for
a list of possible programs.

1) I'm not aware of one, but you should be able to write an excel macro to
send 1 every 45 seconds - it might take that long to do a mail merge any
way. <g>

2) as mentioned in #1, mail merge. Since the db is in excel, you may want to
check excel newsgroups (and websites) and send the messages directly from
excel, bypassing outlook.
