Need advice

All,

Let me make this a brief as possible. I am a systems engineer who has
pleanty of experience at keeping a server farm up and running but NONE when
it comes to developing wep pages.

I have a few ideas that I would like to try. I am looking at creating a web
page that is membership based for a monthly fee. The site would need to
accept user feed back based on a form which feeds into a SQL server. That
database would also need to be searchable, etc. by the members. In addition
I would like to have a chat room service and mail service.

Lastly all needs to be controlled via a user name and password.

I have no idea what type of software is involved in creating a web site
along these lines. I am looking for something that will let me the novice do
all of this in an easy, intuitive format.

I have looked at Frontpage and Dreamweaver but have played with neither.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You will find all of those features are supported by FP using ASP and a SQL database connection on a Windows Server
- the mail service would require a mail server
But IMHO many of the features you are trying to add are not for the novice
