Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) I was working on a Powerpoint presentation and lost all my files when I tried to save it. HELP! It does not even recover the file! Everytime I save it, it shuts down the software and asks me to reopen it. When I reopen it, my file is gone and was not even recovered. I reinstalled it twice already, to no avail. I called Applecare and they told me it is a Microsoft issues. Called Microsoft and they are not open. I need to do this presentation ASAP. Please help if you can... I greatly appreciate it.

There is an excellent set of steps to follow here:

Hi
Thank you for your anticipated help. When I clicked on your link, it took me to a solution for Word. My problem, however, is for Powerpoint. Do they have a similar solution for Powerpoint?

Hi
Thank you for your anticipated help. When I clicked on your link, it
took me to a solution for Word. My problem, however, is for Powerpoint.
Do they have a similar solution for Powerpoint?

Hi,

The information on the page under the heading Diagnose Your Problem
applies to all Office applications. The steps I would recommend are:

1. Use Disk Utility to repair permissions.
2. Use Disk Utility to verify the startup volume
3. Remove corrupt fonts
4. Resolve duplicate fonts
5. Start the application from the dock while holding down the shift key
6. If you get the application to open, use Help > Check for Updates.
Install all updates
7. Install any updates waiting for you under the Apple menu > Software
Update

Thank you for your help. I decided to remove the application and reinstall it and it is now working fine. Do you think I still need to do the repair permissions in the disk utility?

Also should I be doing any kinds of these steps to maintenance the computer?

Thanks
