Need Help Moving Office 2007 to a new computer

I received a free media-less copy of Office Pro 2007 from attending the
Office 2007/Vista kickoff seminar in Feb. 2007.

The computer I installed it on has just died and a new laptop is being
delivered Monday. I do still have the original downloaded installation
files on a hard drive.

How do I migrate my Office installation to the new machine? Should I copy
the program folders over, or re-install from the downloads, or something
else?

Should I expect any problems?

Thanks.

Since you have the downloaded files on a hard drive (hope it is just one
file at over 300 MB of data) then you can just install it using the key that
was provided at that time. Of course if this product is considered OEM, and
the documentation that came with it will tell you, then it "legally" can't
be installed onto a different computer. If the "files" you are talking
about are the un-archived installation files you can start it by running
Setup.exe.

If the "files" you are talking about are the installed components then they
won't help you. You would need the original downloaded file that the
original install came from.

Thanks to all for the good help.

I've gotten email help from Microsoft support that has been surprisingly
great service - less than 24 hour turnaround on all emails, excellent
quality replies. Raghu told me how to download SIW.exe from
www.download3K.com and use it to find the product key on my computer. He
said that I can then re-install from the original download files, use the
product key to activate and then get the latest updates. He also said that
Office 2007 Professional allows two installations, so that should be ok too.

The new computer will be delivered this afternoon. I'll report back on the
results after working on it tonight.

Make sure that you uninstall any Office Trial product and any associated
activation wizard that may have been installed by the computer manufacturer,
reboot the computer before attempting to install any retail version of the
software.
