Need Help: Records Repository - Barcodes

A

Alicia

Hi

I am working with Records Repository feature on SharePoint 2007.
Can somebody answer the following questions please -

1. What does attaching a barcode mean? I have enabled the barcode setting
for my document library in the Records repository.

2. Is this barcode a physical number or image?

3. will i be able to see it when i open my document?

4. When exactly is this barcode attached? Is it done if the document is
uploaded to the repository? or is it attached when i use "Send To" repository
command ?

This is a serious workstopper, so any advice will be useful.
