I want to do in Word what someone else has done in Quark. What I have
is a food menu where the various categories (salad, appetizers,
entries, etc) are each in a separate box. The problem that I'm having
is recreating the specific type of box has rounded concave corners.
Is there a way that I can do this in Word?

Thanks !

You can use the Autoshapes button on the drawing toolbar
and from the Basic Shapes category select
the Rounded rectangle.

You can add text to it by right clicking on the shape
once inserted and select 'Add Text'

That would give you a convex cornered box.
For concave corners in Word you'd likely need to create
your own box using a rectangle and manually insert and
then group the arc shapes together. Word doesn't have
the 'fillet' tool Quark Express (a graphics oriented program)
has.

I don't know how many versions back it goes, but in Word 2003, there is a
Plaque shape in the Basic AutoShapes collection that has concave arcs at the
corners. They are adjustable using the yellow diamond control.

Hi Suzanne,

Ahhh yes. :) Good catch. I thought I remembered there
being one, but couldn't see it the other night :)

It never ceases to amaze me how elusive these shapes are, as I pointed out
about the Arc shape in another thread here. Even if you are pretty sure one
exists, it's still easy to miss it.
