Need help with formula's in a tracking database

Using Excel XP

I am trying to create a tracking database and need help with the
following:

I know how to insert the current date and time. I will have a start
date/time and a resolved date/time. How do I calculate time
difference between them? (ie length of time to resolve) Would like
Hours & Minutes.

On that calculated field how would I identify those that exceeded 24
hrs? Either a different background cell or different color value of
this field.

Thank You

Hi
simply subtract both values. For identifying > 24 hours use 'Format -
Conditional format). Note: 24 hours are represented by the numeric
value '1'

XL stores dates and times as integral and fractional days, so you can
simply use math functions:

A1: 29 AUG 2004 12:00
A2: 30 AUG 2004 10:02
A3: =A2-A1 ===> 22:02

Format A3 with Format/Cells/Number/Custom [hh]:mm

to identify > 24 hours (which XL stores as 1), use Conditional Formatting

CF1: =A3>1
