Need help with linking

Hi,

MSPS 2007, all current updates.

Need help with a best practice for linking between projects.

All of our projects have dependencies on each other. (Or at least a
majority do) One plan in particular several plans need to link to key
milestones.

We are setup so only the project owner can edit/modify, so cross project
linking directly won't work.

Question...
Can other projects link to deliverables set up on different workspaces? Or
would it be best to create a connector project that just lists the milestones
and links to original project, but then give others access so they can link
to those milestones and get updates? Or is there a better way?

Thanks!

The preferred way is to use Deliverables. Deliverables don't work across
Project Server instances but do work across all projects within an instance.

Rod,

Thank you for your quick reply.

I have been trying to play with this feature, but not sure I"m understanding
it correctly. Would you mind giving me an example of steps.

i.e
WSS
Setup Deliverable
(Then how do I link a task within each project to this deliverable?)
I know then I can set alerts for changes on the deliverable.

It's the linking I'm not able to make work.

Thanks,

You should see what I can do when I really focus!! Glad you found the answer
which presumably was to use Project Professional and the Collaborate menu.
