Need Help with sbcglobal.net

This may be off topic but I would like to know if other @sbcglobal.net
users are having problems using Entourage.

My Entourage 2004 is being flooded with SPAM mail from my ISP who is
AT&T DSL using the @sbcglobal.net domain name. AT&T/Yahoo offers a SPAM
Guard service setup to detect and delete suspected spam on arrival.
This SPAM Guard option works great provided you use their Yahoo web mail
interface. However, it seems the detected spam is not being deleted but
captured and held in a popmail queue. When Entourage pops the mail, the
flood gate opens and fills up my Entourage junk mail folder with the
AT&T found SPAM mail.

I have asked AT&T about this situation and they claim most mail
programs have an option to block junk mail. I told the lady I was not
aware of any such option in Microsoft Entourage to block mail from the
ISP but I would double check. I don't think Entourage blocks anything;
however, it does sort suspected junk to the Junk Mail folder.

Is there such a thing in Entourage as a black list that will block and
not accept mail from certain email addresses?

Sorry no! You should be able to set up a rule in Entourage. Open the spam
message and select the subject that contains their spam tag and use that to
screen mail.

Subject Contains [spam tag]

Run Applescript (select the nuke message script)

Nuke Messages script:

Of course, if they are wrong you will nuke good mail.

Do they have the option to move the spam mail to a folder that is not
downloaded? I know pair.com has this option for their mail accounts.

You might want to consider setting the option for the account to partially
receive messages. This way you won't have to download the entire message. I
do this for an IMAP account that gets mostly spam mail. It's isn't such a
burden to download the good messages after I receive the headers.

The problem is SOLVED and I am a little red-faced. I went back to the
AT&T/Yahoo web page and found Span Guard was turned OFF. With it OFF I
was getting everything with no filtering. What I think happened was
some dummy (me) forgot to use the 'Save' button when I turned ON Spam
Guard.

Since activating SPAM Guard, nothing has made it to my Entourage Junk
Mail folder. The Yahoo SPAM Guard seems to be working.

Sorry to have bothered everyone with my mistake.

We all make mistakes so don't apologize. Hopefully, your mistake will help
someone else find out what they did wrong.

My Entourage Junk Mail box is lonely tonight. Only a few junk mails
showed up. The AT&T/Yahoo Spam Guard really works.
