Need immediate help with Access to Outlook Please

N

Nirza

This is my 3rd request.... Please, thank you....

I went through a windows update and was asked to reboot
which I did. I had Outlook open and closed it before
rebooting - it was opened to contacts. when I tried to
access Outlook I got an error message saying "your
personal address book could not be opened. the file is
either not accessible or not a personal address book.
choose retry to access your personal address book, or
choose cancel to not open your personal address book with
this application." I have no other application to open
this address book with! my contact info is detrumental
to me as well as my Calendar info.

2nd issue - cannot e-sync between my palm and computer -
error message received regarding the most important
component - CALENDAR....

Someone please help!!!

1. Do a search for your *.pst. It may have been moved or corrupted.
2. Your Palm won't sync up with your outlook unless it's working.
3. If you find it and it is corrupted, try running scanpst.exe, it part of
outlook.
Good luck

Go to Tools > Email Accounts > check "View or change existing directories or
address books" > is the Outlook Address Book present > if it is present then
remove it close and restart Outlook and then re-add it > if it isn't present
then add it > close and restart Outlook.

If you are looking for a personal address book or says it is not one then do a search for *.pab. Once you have the location of where it is saved

Goto Outlook - Tools - Email Accounts - Select - View Existing Address Books. If there is a personal address book listed I would remove it. Once it is removed go back and click Add- Choose Addtional Addres Book then choose Personal Address Book (remembe that you can only have one personal address book so need to remove first).

If this still does not work then I would run the scanpst.exe tool. Yo can find this tool by just do a search for it

Let me know if this helps - if not we will go to the next step

Nizra, I replied to your post from a few minutes before this one, titled
"2nd request for help -PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE". The web interface for these
newsgroups is not very quick when it comes to posting new messages -- you
have to give it a little time before your new posts will show :)

If the OP is using anthing later that Outlook 98, there is no PAB file.
Outlook 2000 and later don't use it.

Is the address book still there (search for .wab files on
your PC).

What??? That's the Windows Address Book. Outlook doesn't use it at all.

One minor correction, any version of Outlook can use a PAB file
including Outlook 2003. The PAB isn't recommended for later versions
of Outlook and is mostly deprecated, but it can be there and can be
used.
