Need procedures to reinstall Office 2000 & Service Packs

B

Bill in Colo

I need to reinstall Office 2000 premium. I have the following CDs:
Office 2000 Premium (2 disks)
Office 2000 SR-1 patch
Office 2000 Service Pack 2
Office 2000 Service Pack 3.
I DO NOT HAVE Office 2000 Service Pack 1a.
Do I need to install all of the CD's in sequence, or do the later ones
include the earlier changes?
Do I need SP-1a?
Thanks.

Hi Bill,

For Office 2000 the only difference between SR1 and SR1a Service Releases was in the installer routine. SR1a installed where some
folks had trouble with SR1.

Office 2000 Premium Edition has a total of 4 CDs, but #3 and #4 are for Photodraw 2000, in your case Photodraw 2000 v1.

From the updates you listed you can skip Service Pack 2 (SP2).
After installing Office 2000 and again after installing Service Release 1
run one of the apps before going to the next update.

There are other minor updates you may want to also look at that are after SP3. You can do so through http://officeupdate.com

I have a related question, I just installed Windows XP (full) and loaded my
older Office 2000 Premium. Using the Microsoft Update utility it tells me I
need to run SP-1a. When I try and download the file and run it the system
prompts me and says I already have SP-1a. However, when I look at the
"about" descriptions of the Office programs (excel, word etc..) I do not see
the SP-1 description. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2000
Premium and got the same results. Why does it tell me to install SP-1a and
then tell me SP-1 is installed but I can find no evidence of the SP-1
installation on the control panel or in the Office 2000 programs? Help is
greatly appreciated.
