Need to set ppt links to open new ppt in same window

I have a very large training presentation with embedded graphics. To
break up the ppt file size, I created a main menu on the left side
linking to additional topics that are also ppt files. Each topic is a
new ppt file and every page of the presentation has this main menu.

My links work in slideshow mode.

When I do a pack and go, the links cannot be found.

When I save as PPS, the links work, but each file opens in a new
window...meaning when I finish my presentation I have fourteen files to
close.

Is there any way to set the links so that when clicked the previous
file closes and only the new file is open?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

In each of the presentations you are linking to, add a button at the end that is
linked to "End Show". That will close the window and return to the menu. It is
best to use this technique in a kiosk mode slide show where all navigation is
via linked buttons because it forces the user to end the way you want. You
could put the End Show button on every slide if you want the user to have that
option.
