Are you also sharing a printer?
If the printer driver is on the desktop and your laptop is using a
network printer driver then this issue will occur. Word queries the
printer driver when starting to determine available fonts, printable
area, etc.
Try removing the printer and adding it back using the Add Printer
Wizard to install a local printer driver.

program. An error log is being created." Then Word colapses and I
