never goes to next unread message

When I open Entourage and have a list of unread messages, as I delete
messages, Entourage always goes to the previously read message and
NEVER to the next unread message. I've changed the order of view from
newest to latest but the same. I always have to go to the down/up
arrow to read the next unread message. A pain day in and day out. What
setting have I missed?

I'm not sure whether this setting can be forced (I think not), but if you
press Control + Option + ] when you have a message, you'll find the current
message is deleted and Entourage will display the next unread message. If
you press Control + Option+ [, Entourage will do the same, but display the
previous unread message. Please note that Entourage defines "previous
unread message" and "next unread message" by physical position in the
message list, not by date/time received, so the one you want to use depends
on whether you have messages sorted in ascending or descending order.

Something else you could do would be to first select View -> Unread Only,
and then sort by Date Sent in ascending order (arrow up). If you then press
Delete with a message selected, Entourage will automatically display the
next unread message.
