New Assignement Request sent to Administrator

Bart Santy

As administrator I had created a new project and published it.
I then changed ownership of the project to a project manager.
He republished the entire project with 'become the manager for these
assignments' checked.

Although the project manager receives the 'task updates' for approval,
the 'new assignment request' are still being sent to the administrator.

How can I make sure the 'new assignment requests' are also sent to the
project manager ?

Bart,

It sounds like the owner field is still populated with your information.
Having another PM publish the project does not change the owner even though
it will send all the time entry approvals to them. Any newly submitted tasks
will always go to the project Owner.

To check and adjust the owner, go into the Project Web Access. Go to the
Projects area. Highlight the project and click the "Edit" link. There is a
drop-down there for you to change the owner.

Hope this helps.

Jim,

I already had doublechecked the project owner field as you suggest,
but that was correct. I also asked the project manager to republish the
entire project, and 'become the manager of these assignements'. But the new
assignement request was still in the updates list for the administrator.

May be the new assignment was forwarded to the admin before I had changed
the project owner field. Or should 'new assignement requests' automatically
follow any changes to the project owner field ?

Anyway, I've solved this by accepting the request, updating the project
plan, and asking to project manager to once more republish while taking
ownership.

Bart,

Glad to hear you found a workaround. I was going to suggest something
similar if my original suggestion was not the issue. You could be correct in
that the timing could have caused the issue. As I stated earlier, the
application by default always sends new task requests to the project Owner.
I should preface by saying that it will be the Owner at that time. If the
owner changes before the task have been approved they will remain with the
old owner for approval.

Good hunting.
