New/Changed Files Need Refresh in Folder View

D

David Godinger

While looking at a list of files in Windows, I often enter changes in
the names of files or folders. However, I have to refresh the folder
or I don't see the new names. Otherwise, I see only the old names, and
this wastes my time.

Double-clicking on the new folder before refreshing gets me an error
message about reference "to a location that is unavailable."
Double-clicking on a new file before refreshing gets me an error
message, part of which says that "the file could not be found."

Also, if I create a new folder, it doesn't appear in the file list
without refresh.

This only happens at the computers in the office, but not at my home
machine. I'm using XP Pro in a peer-to-peer network of two new
computers in the office, and the same at home (except that one of the
home machines isn't Pro).

Thanks for your help.

This is not a Micorosoft Office issue. Post your question in a group that
deals with Windows XP.
