New computer Office 2003 install

P

Patty

I just bought a new HP Pavilion a847c that had a 60-day trial version of
Office 2003 installed. I originally was going to put on my Office 2000
products, but after UNinstalling 2003, decided that I really just wanted to
keep it. I've now gone back to a "restore point" but the Office 2003
configuration keeps coming up as missing sku112.cab I did NOT receive any
system recovery CDs with the computer. I did try to use my husband's new
upgrade to Office 2003, and indeed, it installed but obviously wouldn't
register as the license had already been used. WOULD PURCHASING OFFICE 2003
UPGRADE AND INSTALLING IT SOLVE MY PROBLEM? I would REALLY appreciate any
advice/help with this.

Thanks!

just another guess, but since this is a trial version on an oem installation
it may work.
If you end up needing the original installation media which you are entitled
to, call you system manufacturer and demand the recover disk(s). You should
do this anyway since your original installation of Office would be based on
the trial conversion if it works. You would need these disk(s) again if your
drive ever crashes and you need to reinstall after the warranty period.
