New doc starts in the middle of the page???????????

When I open Word with a new doc the cursor starts in the
middle of the page. I am assumming that it has something
to do with the template?? I am lost and frustrated. If I
open an old doc, delete the text I can type from the top
and then I save it with a new name. I am not familar with
how to work with templates. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

Cheryl,

Look at File>Page Setup>Layout>Vertical Alingnment and make sure top is
selected.

Yip, you are a big legend, I have been looking in headers and footers.....phew what a huge relief, I would have wasted so much time of that...yipeee!
