new document buttons

In the older versions of Office there were buttons that said "Open Document"
and "New Document" and there were sample forms for the new documents. Does
the 2007 Office have these and if so, where do I find them? I have looked
all over and it looks like I have to open each program to find a template in
the 2007 versions. Any ideas?

If you configure Office 2007 (control panel), there is a feature for this
(New and Open Microsoft Office Document shortcuts) under shared features.
