New documents automatically have text in superscript

Hi everyone! Every time time I open a new word document, the text automatically is formatted in superscript. This is seen in the attached screenshot. Occasionally, this issue extends to my EndNote generated bibliography, making it formatted in superscript. I would like to know how I may resolve this issue please.
