New email account not appearing on mail folder listing

I have set up new email account. Outlook says it has been set up successfully
but the new account does not show up on the mail folder list alongside other
emails.

If it's a POP account, then no it won't. POP accounts use the default set
of folders.
Presumably all your other accounts are either IMAP or Hotmail?

Version of Outlook?
Type of mail account that you added?

Note that POP3 accounts don't have their own folder set by default and
delivery will be done to you default delivery location.
