New Field in Issues & Tasks is Insert-Only?

Hi,

I'm new to Groove 2007 but have successfully added new fields to some other
Workspace tools before. But I'm struggling to add a Text or Non-Numeric
field to the Task (response) form. I can add it, and when I create a new
record, it lets me insert a value. When I open the record I just created and
added a value to, it displays the new field, but any value is greyed out and
I can't change the value. Opening existing records always shows the value as
empty and it won't let me add a value.

I've tried this repeated on the same form, but no luck.

Is this a feature, operator error or a bug? I've checked for the read-only
property, but if it was set that way, I couldn't have added a value on the
new record. I don't see any other properties that could affect it. I DO NOT
want the value to be Required, so didn't try that.
