New Groove user question

In testing Groove I've noticed when I add a file from my hard-drive into a
workspace and then I make the change to the document within Groove it doesn't
carry back to my hard-drive copy. Any explanation for this?

My hope was that I could share documents within Groove workspaces with my
exec team and yet, still have an updated original copy on my hard-drive. I'm
thinking I might have to occasionally save a copy from my workspace. Is that
correct?
