new index file

I am really new to this....The company I am working for wanted me to totally up date and/or create a new site for them. The only way I knew how to do this was work with what I had. What I did was just copy one of the pages that had already been saved and just kept saving it with a new name.

My question is: Can I just rename my new home page index or do I need some special html code on that page

Using FrontPage 200

Thank You

The default page file name is determined by the server, not by any code
within the page. You should be able to find out what the name is of the
existing home page and use that.

Some of the most common default file names:
index.htm
index.html
default.htm
default.html
home.htm
home.html

Why not publish it from your host to your local machine. Give the site a different name, edit to your heart's content
When it's the way you like it, publish all files to the host overwriting previous web
