new install - outlooks show up as off line - how change?

used to be network computer - can't sync palm to outlook it wont connect
offline.

Was Outlook previously displaying an Exchange Server mailbox?

yes that's correct. I changed it to a .pst data file but when it opens it
still show working offline. I can't sync palm becuse it can't connect
offline. please advise

Did you set your machine to use a different mail account so it won't try to
connect to the Exchange Server at all?

I'm recieving emails fine. I did not do that but it seems that I need to set
up differently because when I open out look it shows working off line before
anything will open. I can send recieve emails fine.

Vince deleting the exchnage server worked to allow Palm to sync but it still
shows as offline is that because a network is not involved? Do I need to do
something else in set up?

Hmmm, if you check the File menu is the Work Offline command/option checked?
