New installation of Office 2000 always disables Norton Anti-Virus 2002 Auto Protect

Steve

Hello

I am having a particular bothersome problem with Office.

My setup is

Athlon XP 1600+
512MB ram
69 gb C drive
80 gb backup drive
Windows XP Pro SP 2

The problem I am running in to is with Norton Anti-Virus. I have installed
Norton Internet Security 2002 with Anti-Virus. All is well until I install
Office 2000 (Word only). For some reason, Norton Anti-Virus auto-protect is
being shut off and I am unable to manually restart it. I get "Script errors
on this page" whenever I try to enable auto-protect. If I uninstall Office,
Norton goes back to normal.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks
Steve

Have you checked the Symantec site? They are pretty good at having most
problems documented with fixes or work arounds....

Try stopping(not disable) all of Norton’s service in services.msc and
then reboot.

It is also possible the Office 2000 is overwriting msjava. If you
have msjava downloaded anywhere. Reinstall this. Then go to windows
update and download the current msjava version

If that does not work try downloading sun java 1.50 .
