OK I'm not computer literate, far from it but having located the product ID
on the base of my laptop and checked it with a magnifying glass its pretty
frustrating in outlook when the system won't accept it. Any suggestions?

The product ID on the base of the laptop might be for the version of
Windows included on your laptop.

I'd suggest asking in a group specific to your version of Windows.
