New Laptop and i have to spend $150 more for Office 2003

sageburner

I just got this laptop yesterday and i want to use mircosoft office to show a
powerpoint presention. I made it to show at church and a person couldn't make
it because she was in a terrible accident 6 months ago and she would be
thrilled to see the presentation that i made. but unfornatually it won't play
the movies i have in the presentation because it was a trial if they put this
software with the computer it shouldn't be a trail it should be free and a
full version of the software. I have a older version of office but i don't
know if that would screw this computers software up or what.

sageburner,
Just a tad bit of research for your purchase on your part, and you would
have know about the trial version of Office.
If you have PowerPoint as a program on your older version of Office (if not
an oem copy), just uninstall the trial version thru add remove programs. Use
your version of PPT to remake the slide show.
You can purchase laptops or desktops that have "full" versions of Office
pre-installed.

Are you sure that the reason the video wouldn't play is because you're using
a trial version of Office? As far as I'm aware, PPT should work in the trial
just as it would in a full-fledged version.

That said, video in PPT is very touchy, as it relies on the old MCI media
player, not Windows Media Player to play multimedia. See
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm for a
complete explanation of how PPT handles multimedia.

Try the test there -- Start/Run and type mplay32.exe Does the video play in
that media player? If so, then see
http://www.echosvoice.com/tshoot_video2.htm If not, then it's not gonna
play in PPT, either.

You're assuming he has a full retail version and not an OEM. If it is, he
can't install it on the new system.

JoAnn,
You are correct and I was remiss in my post. The previous version of Office,
non oem, if an upgrade would need the original qualifying product to install.
If oem, the op could not activate on the new system.

JoAnn,
No it's not. Wish it was for my Mom's cancer which she was recenty
diagnosed. But alas, that has no simple answer either.
Have a great evening.
