new mail alert

Is there any way, other than placing your cursor, to avoid the timing out of
a new email message alert? While I like the new form of the alert, I don't
like the fact that it's going to disappear if I step away from my desk for a
few minutes.

If you create a rule that includes an alert (Outlook 2003 can do this), then
the alert will remain on the screen until you dismiss it.
