New Mail Desktop Notification Envelope (Not System Tray)

Hi, running windows xp pro sp2, office/outlook 2003 sp2. I have one mail
account, which is the default (imap type) and I am not receiving the new mail
desktop alert (the envelope appearing above the clock which can be
semi-transparent) although I do receive the new mail notification envelope in
the system tray. I have double checked that Tools | Options | E-mail Options
| Advanced E-mail Options | show an envelope & display notification are both
checked on, although for some reason this feature is not working, any ideas?
In addition, I do not have any firewalls present on my computer and my isp
doesn't provide that service (yes, the firewall is off in sp2).
Thanks

Hey Dave, thanks for the article, but that didn't apply to my situation as I
usually leave outlook open and minimized and when I receive a new mail
message (after a couple of hours or so) that notification doesn't appear,
only the envelope in the system tray. I removed the imap e-mail address and
connected my pop e-mail address to outlook (gmail) and the new mail desktop
notification envolope (the one above the system clock) started appearing
again. I removed my gmail account and put the imap account back on, and
surprise surprise, I still don't get the desktop notification envelope.

Actually Dave, that helped a LOT right after I searched the key words in that
article in the microsoft outlook help (F1 in outlook) as due to the fact that
I am using an IMAP account, I had to create a rule to display the
notification, hope this will help anyone else with a similar problem. Thanks
again!

So, how do you get back the envelope? Cause for the rule that I can create,
the outlook just pop out a message box instead of the envelope. Please help
as the envelope is less disturbing than the message box. Thank you.
