New Mail Envelope Does Not Go Away

Hi,

This is a feature that used to work fine but is giving problems on my
machine (XP - Outlook 2002) now. When I get a new mail, the icon comes
up (as it should). But when I delete or double-click or Ctrl-Q (to
mark it unread) the icon does not go away.

I tried searching support.microsoft.com but could not find anything
relevant.
