"New Mail" Icon

[Old Red One]

An icon - of an envelope - used to appear in my system tray whenever I was
on Line in IE and new mail arrived in Outlook (Version 2002.) It has
disappeared. How do I find it and return it to use?

Version of windows? is it marked as an inactive icon (windows xp task bar
properties)
