New Mail Msg Icon?

Hi
in all previous versions of outlook i was able to create a shortcut which
when clicked would open a new email msg.
outlook2003 conveniently removed this shortcut from my quicklaunch bar and
when i try to recreate it i notice that there is no longer an icon for an
email msg available. interestingly there are icons for each of the other
types in outlook just not email.
I would have no problem clicking in the new outlook icon in the system tray
and selecting new msg off of a menu but this does not seem possible to
configure.
any help?>
