Some people here at work have a window that pops up when new mail arrives
allowing them to read some or all of themessage without actually going into
Outlook. How do I set that up?

Brodiemac, you can find the settings for that feature here:

In Outlook>Tools>Options>Preferences tab>E-mail Options>Advanced E-mail
Options button

Under "When new items arrive..." select "Display a New Mail Desktop Alert".
Under this sentence is the "Desktop Alert Settings" button to finetune the
settings for this feature, complete with a preview button. This feature is
only for your primary/default e-mail inboxe.

Hope this helps,

Actually the exact verbage of the window is "New message of interest"

So far I haven't been able to find anything that helps me get this setup.

For what it's worth I have found two articles that seem to apply to your
query.

In Microsoft KB articles for Outlook 98, 2000, and 2002:
4. Why doesn't the "New Messages of Interest" dialog box appear when a
qualifying message arrives?
You may already have "New Message of Interest" reminder open in the
background. Only one instance of the reminder can be displayed.
It can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q181586/
And here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;197496

The previous articles describe the following article as related:
OL2000: Creating a From Rule for an Internet Mail Address
Here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/197317/EN-US/

Hope this helps,

Actually I found out it's a rule. When new mail arrives, notify me using a
specific message. The specific message is 'New message of interest'. This
will cause a mail preview window to pop up whenever you receive new mail.

Thanks for your help!
