New Master categories follow user around domain

In Word 2003, in a domain account, is there a way to have custom items
in the Master Category List available to the user regardless of which
machine he/she logs in to? Failing that, is there a convenient way to
transfer them around using an intermediate file?

In Outlook 2003 and previous, the Master Category List is stored in the
registry. When you configure Roaming Profiles for your users in your domain,
all Windows settings will follow.

As an alternative you could consider using category management software such
as;
