New message To, CC, BCC and Subject fields don't accept 'delete'

Hi all,

I'm having a bit of a problem, actually more like an annoyance:
whenever I create a new mail (that includes replying, forwarding
etc...) I can type in the header field no problem. However, if I hit
'delete' or 'back' it does not deletethe characters in the field, but
the ones in the email body! the only way I can get rid of something I
already typed in those fields is by highlighting it and typing over it.

It started happening recently, without me doing anything special.

I have tried deleting the normal.dot, frmcache.dat and outcmd.dat (the
last too out of hope rather than anything!) to no avail.
I run office 2003 SP2 over XP, with all the updates.

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Bourgui

Can you please try to start outlook in the safe mode and check for the
behaviour? This issue might be caused due to some third party interference
too.

To start outlook in the safe mode, click on Start --> Run --> Outlook /safe

Hope this helps!!!

Thanks for the response AN,

You're right, in safe mode it behaves properly. How can I check which
other processes are interacting with outlook? I highly doubt it's any
sort of spyware, so it would be something I installed myself.

Hi again AN,

the problem seems to have been fixed by starting Outlook one in safe
mode.
I have no idea what it was, but it's gone now!

Thank you

Bourgui
