New Messages Not Showing Up in Inbox

J

Jeff

Hi,

I have read several other posts here concerning a problem I am having with
Outlook 2007. The problem is that new messages don't show up in the Inbox
until I leave the Inbox (for example, by clicking on the Contacts tab and
then returning to Inbox).

Some of the other posts suggested that the firewall is the problem. I am
running Norton Internet Security 2008, and the Firewall is configured to
allow Outlook.

Any suggestions on how I can correct this problem. Although it is an
annoyance, it still works. Correcting it, though, would be great.

Thanks

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

is this Outlook installation an Update of an earlier version?
Did you use an "old" PST file instead of a new unicode PST file.
What happends if you deactivate Norton?

Did you try it with a new email profile?

How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2003/2007?:

Maybe it helps.

Hi Oliver,

Thanks for your reply.

The installation of Outlook 2007 is new. I did, however, move the .pst file
from a computer running Outlook 2003.

I will turn off Norton as much as is possible short of uninstalling the
package. I will let you know what I find.

I have not tried to create a new profile yet. I will follow that suggestion
after seeing what happens with Norton.

Thanks again for your help.

Mary,

I did create a new profile in Outlook 2007. I received mail on both of the
systems (Outlook 2003 on the XP system and Outlook 2007 on the Vista system)
before migrating the Outlook 2003 .pst file from Outlook 2003 to 2007.

I can't tell by your message if you are referring to something different
from this.

Hi Oliver,

I have tried several things since my last email.

Turning off Norton Internet Security 2008 (all protection options including
firewall and anti-virus) - No change

I created a new profile. Email was received without any problems.

Because I have a great number of saved emails in numerous files, I was going
to return to this forum and see if there was an easy way to import all of my
saved mail folders and files.

I decided to go back and change the profile back to the original profile.
Surprisingly, everything appears to be working correctly.

If anything changes, I will post back.

Otherwise, I want to thank you for your input.

Thanks

Jeff
